We only know the richest people in the world in our current age and time. But, there are many other rich people from past history which we do not know about. So, who is the most richest person of all time? Is he/she of our time or not? Let us find out in the list below:
10. Genghis Khan (1162-1227)

Genghis Khan is surely the most successful leader in history. He build the largest Empire which stretched all the way from China to Europe. Despite all his power, he was very generous. He shared the spoils of war with his soldiers after every siege, which was one of the reasons of his influence.
9. Bill Gates (1955-present)

Everyone has heard of Bill Gates as the richest person in the world at one time or another. As one of the founder of Microsoft, Gates is said to have a founder’s net worth of $78.9 billion.
8. Alan Rufus (1040-1093)

Alan Rufus, also known as ‘Alan the red’ was the first lord of Richmond and a relative and companion of ‘William the Conqueror’ during the ‘Norman Conquest’ of England. The nephew of William, the Conqueror had 11,000 GBP at his disposal at the time of his death. This actually equaled 7 percent of the entire GDP of England at that point in time. At present, this would roughly equal $194 billion.
7. John D. Rockefeller (1838-1937)

John D. Rockefeller was an American business magnate and philanthropist. A co-founder of the ‘Standard Oil’ company which dominated the oil industry and was the first great U.S. business trust. In 1880, the company was controlling 90% of the oil produced the the United States. He was valued at nearly $1.5 billion as per the federal income tax return in 1918. Now the same share value would sum up to $341 billion.
6. Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919)

Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish American industrialist who led the enormous expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. Carnegie could truly be the richest American in all history. He sold his steel corporation to J.P. Morgan for a sum of $480 million in 1901 which gave Carnegie economic influence equivalent of $372 billion in current terms.
5. Joseph Stalin (1878-1953)

Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union. A well known figure in history. He was a dictator who controlled one of the largest economies over the world. At present, the figure is equivalent to about $7.5 trillion.
4. Akbar I (1542-1605)

Abu’l-Fath Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar or simply Akbar I was a Mughal Emperor. Probably the greatest rulers of the Mughal Dynasty in India. The lifestyle enjoyed by Akbar I was much more extravagant compared to that of the European society.
3. Emperor Shenzong (1048-1085)

Emperor Shenzong of Song was the sixth emperor of the Chinese Song Dynasty. The Song Dynasty in China is known to be among the most economically sound empires in history. It has been said the economy accounted for up to 30% of the economic output of the world.
2. Augustus Caesar (63 BC-14 AD)

Augustus Caesar was the founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor. The empire summed up to 30% of the economic output of the entire world. It is believed that Caesar had wealth equal to one-fifth of the most economy of the whole empire. In current terms, that would equal to nearly $4.6 trillion.
1. Mansa Musa (1280-1337)

Mansa Musa was the tenth Mansa, which translates as ‘King of Kings’ or ‘Emperor’, of the wealthy West African Mali Empire. He was the king of Timbuktu where gold was produced in more quantity that anywhere else in the world. Many believed that he had dozens of camels to carry his gold whereas another group of people believed that he had an army comprising more than 200,000 soldiers.
